CDN resource overview
The CDN resource is the proxy between CDB caching edge servers and your website's origin. You should create a CDN resource to enhance the download speed with our infrastructure.
Choose your CDN resource type
There are two types of CDN resources available:
-
Standard CDN resource. Accelerate a website or specific assets using either a CNAME record or CDB Managed DNS delegation. Supports an optional WAAP integration for Layer 7 DDoS and web application protection. Consult our guide on creating a CDN resource.
-
For video streaming. Deliver live streams and video-on-demand content globally. Best for HLS, DASH, or FLV video delivery without transcoding. Consult our guide on configuring a CDN resource for video streaming.
Need transcoding? If you need to transcode raw video inputs (RTMP, SRT) or generate adaptive bitrate ladders automatically, use the Video Streaming platform instead of Video CDN.
Quick comparison
| Feature | Standard CDN resource | Video Streaming |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Websites and asset acceleration | Live streams & VOD |
| DNS management | CNAME or CDB Managed DNS | Manual |
| WAAP support | Yes | No |
| Typical use case | E-commerce, blogs, apps | Broadcasting, OTT |
Note
You can create up to thirty CDN resources of all types combined. If you need an increase to this limitation, contact your personal manager or CDB Support.
